A word from emily

What do we think we know? Compare that to what we actually know.

Tiny Titans and Junior Champs

Help your child learn the sliding collar choke this week.

Self Defense

Two self-defense concepts from Art this week. The first is how to respond if someone shoves you. The second is a street-ready closed guard escape.

Adult all-level bjj

This simple tool will help you increase arm and grip strength. To build it, you need three things: a pipe or stick, at least 5 feet of rope, and a weight. To use it, stand with your hands extended in front of you at shoulder height. Turn your wrists to raise the weight and then reverse direction and lower the weight. Try doing three sets. Do them slowly. You can add weight as you get stronger. If you don’t have any weights at home just tie a one-gallon milk container to the end. If you fill the jug with water, this weighs about 8.6 pounds.

Adult Fundamentals

José arms you with a sweep from closed guard: the windmill sweep.

Adult Advanced

You don’t need to be overwhelmed by lapel guards. Coach Shane breaks down the basics.

Hybrid Kickboxing

Coach Mike will continue to teach how to build combos using the HKB numbers system. Use the top video above to familiarize yourself with it.

The second portion of Coach Mike’s lesson will build on the Tap Tap Drill, which teaches you how to coordinate foot movement with your strikes.
