Jesse Proctor

How long have you been training?

I started training 2-3 days per week in 2012, but didn’t get super serious about it until 2019 when I stepped it up to 6 days per week. I have remained consistent in that pattern since.

What encourages you the most about your practice?

Learning new things.

What challenges you the most?

The slumps and plateaus in my technical progress.

How have you evolved as a result of it?

I think I have developed better emotional intelligence in learning to work productively with my teammates.

What is something that you learned about BJJ that was unexpected?

I didn’t expect the community aspect of Jiu-jitsu to be so important to training.

Any notable accomplishments, interests or facts you’d like to share?

I’m not a super active competitor, but I try to compete at least twice a year. I have medaled in every competition I’ve entered since 2012.
